Mmmm…is there anything more nostalgic than Sloppy Joes? I admit, I love them. My mom made them from canned sauce, I believe. I hadn’t had them in years, and my kids had only tried them once at my mother-in-law’s. They loved them! So, I used Kacie’s mother-in-law’s recipe, and they’ve been a hit. I’ve made them a few times, and they always disappear fast.
I like to think of this as Junk Food Lite. I mean, organic ketchup may be corn syrup- and pesticide-free, but it’s still a processed food. But I can monitor the ingredients and get my kids to eat meat, and that’s a good thing.
The recipe is great; the only thing I’d add is to do the 30 minute simmer with the lid on to avoid scorching.
